Digestive Problems

My Northern Beaches based acupuncture clinic help ease people's chronic digestive ailments. Over the years, I have treated a lot of people suffering from digestive disorders. Some great results have been achieved in most instances and that also very quickly.

Generally, the problems I deal with on a daily basis are gastrointestinal and digestion difficulties whether it be Reflux, severe abdominal bloating, constipation, IBS, slow metabolism, weight gain, and sluggish digestive tracts with low energy levels. While dealing with these problems, what I've seen is that poor diet is the main cause for digestive disorder and so I always suggest my patients to change their eating pattern for good.

Being a TCM practitioner what I believe is that digestive energy usually flows downward. But acid reflux, heatburn & gastric reflux diseases – all indicate the abnormal flow of digestive Qi. In TCM, we say these conditions as Rebellious Stomach Qi, which means that digestive juices are not flowing downward but backing upward. Rebellious Qi is the result of a weak digestive energy. Practitioners of Western medicine treat this condition by neutralising or suppressing stomach acids. This treatment may relive the symptoms but it is not going to address the root cause and doesn't even offer a long-term solution.

Acupuncture combined with specifically tailored Chinese herbal formulas may go beyond addressing the root cause of your digestive problem, and correct your imbalances as well as return your digestive system back to the normal state. In most instances, when the digestive system is balanced properly the problems do not reoccur. So that this can come about, I either give a little dietary advice to my patients or suggest them to go for an acupuncture treatment every 6 to 8 weeks to ensure continuing good health.
