Is Acupuncture Helpful For IVF?
- Step 1: Ovulation induction – In this step, the specialist starts monitoring the ovaries and egg release timing. He or she also helps to control the hormone level. Many women can take fertility hormones or medicines during IVF. Most of the hormones are generally used for stimulating the ovaries to produce more eggs.
- Step 2: Egg retrieval – This is the step of the IVF process. In this step, pain medication is generally applied for reducing discomfort. Under this medication, a specialist injects a thin needle carefully on the upper vaginal. By using vaginal ultrasound, the fluid is properly isolated from follicles. After follicle retrieval, the eggs are properly placed in a nutrient dish. Then they are moved to the incubator.
- Step 3: Fertilization – It is the most important step of the IVF method. In this step, a sample of sperm is collected either from a sperm donor or the partner. After that, the egg is properly mixed with the sperm in an IVF mixing chamber. In some cases, sperm is inserted into the egg directly. Then the specialist places the egg and sperm in a special incubator. This incubator helps to develop the healthy embryo.
- Step 4: Embryo transfer – This is the last and final step of this process. In this step, the specialist firstly determines the embryos and select the healthiest one to transfer. For embryo transfer, specialist generally inserts a speculum into the vagina and then transfers the healthiest embryos by using a plastic tube.
