Male Infertility

I see a number of women each week who are trying to fall pregnant, one of the first things I request is for the husband to see their GP and ask for a referral to have a sperm test done at one of the laboratories that provide this service. It is surprising the number of reports that come back showing that the problem is not with the wife but that the husband has a low sperm count and that the viability and motility of the sperm are very low as well.Unfortunately in a lot of instances there is a reluctance on the part of the husband to under go this simple Sperm Test that takes just a few minutes of his time. I feel that there is some perceived threat to their masculinity and that they are somewhat diminished in the eyes of their partner if the results indicate that not all is right with them.In most instances the problem may be rectified, diet and lifestyle can have a bearing on the quality of sperm, smoking and alcohol also are problems that need to be addressed, a complete assessment of the husbands lifestyle and dietary habits are undertaken, then a herbal formula is prescribed to address the underlying deficiency, along with  acupuncture treatments over a 6 months period, the results may surprise  the husband when a second sperm test is done.I can not stress more strongly how important it is for the sperm test to be carried out, it can save months of frustration and anxiety for both partners if male infertility is the problem.
